Should euthenasia be made legal globally?

Euthenasia, assisted suicide or mercy killing has been argued by a lot of medical ethicists and remains a very controversal issue with no real compromise and no end in sight ; while pro euthenasia campaigners have long mounted the quality of life argument and the need for death with dignity legislations across the world. What right has one to take anothers life? At what time could life be considered unliveable? What about young kids that cannot talk or make decisions about end of life issues? What about the mentally impaired? Should euthenasia be made legal? Is it an ethical practice? Should life be allowed to end naturally without assisted suicide? Weigh in and tell me what you think.

I also share the same sentiments with you. I don't know much about the issues on euthaeasia but i guess the problem really is that we can't really pin point of whom should decide on ending one's life. Is it the family of the sick? Is it the person lying in the hospital bed who wants to end his suffering? What if the family decides to end their relative's llife but the sick person wants to live still. What if the person who suffers wants to die but the people who love him or her don't want to give him or her up? Moreover moralists contend to oppose euthenasia, because they believe in the sanctity of life and they believe that life is the most important among the human rights, that's why people can easily shun the idea of ending one's life so as to save him or her from the pains brought about by his or her condition.
For the question of making euthanasia globally legal...that would be difficult considering the vast array of values and cultures that thrive on this planet. The debate on euthenasia would still go a long way.

Good contribution Minuit. The issue of euthenasia is multifaceted and multi-factorial. The debate goes on as it remains an ethical dilemma.

I am not a good philosopher, but i do want to know on how to decide on this issue. Being raised in a country like the Philippines where christian values dominates, i'm inclined to oppose on euthenasia. But considering other factors. I guess that would really depend on the situation where euthenasia might be put to use. May I know what is your stand on making euthenasia globally legal?
